My sister in law went to girls camp this week, and I’ve been kicking myself — because I forgot to send a copy of a book, Lucky Change by Susan Law Corpany, along with her. She really NEEDED this book at girls camp, and I’ve failed her. This is the wonderful sister in law who thinks she doesn’t like to read, or that reading novels is kind of a burden. But I suspect it’s just that she hasn’t found the kind of book that grabs her yet.
Lucky Change could be her book. Books happen. I’m about 1/2-way through with The Wham Curse today, a modern-day murder mystery that includes an unsolved mystery from our county’s history, the army payroll heist known as the Wham Paymaster Robbery. I love that the place where I live is almost a living character in the story.
There’s been a huge inconsistency in the opening chapters of my current WIP, and this morning I think I had a breakthrough on how to fix it. Get rid of one of the paintings. It’s so crazy it just might work! (as they always say on Sesame Street.)
Speaking of Sesame Street, my kids keep watching this youtube video. It’s one of those songs that just doesn’t ever stop going through your head, but it’s a total classic: Manah Manah forever!
